SONS OF THE SHEPHERD

Walking with men through grief, loss, and the valley of widowhood.

No man should have to walk through grief alone.
We exist to support widowers with biblical truth, real community, and steady hope in Jesus Christ.

OUR STORY

Sons of the Shepherd is a faith-based nonprofit ministry dedicated to supporting younger widowers and all men through compassionate mentorship, community events, and valuable resources for grief and spiritual restoration. Our mission is to provide a safe space for men to find healing, support, and spiritual growth. We strive to create a community where men can share their experiences, support one another, and find hope in their journey of grief and restoration.

Through our various programs and events, we aim to provide a network of support and understanding for men who have experienced the loss of a spouse. Our team is committed to walking alongside these men, offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. We believe that every man deserves the opportunity to heal and thrive, and we are here to provide the necessary support and resources for their journey.

MEET MATTHEW ROBINSON

Founder of Sons of the Shephard

Sons of the Shepherd was born out of personal loss and a burden for men grieving in silence.

Matt Robinson is a husband, father, missionary, and founder of Sons of the Shepherd. Years ago Matt’s first wife Tiffanie passed away after a ten month cancer journey. They were married for fourteen years, serving alongside one another in ministry.

Matt recently married Leslie, a fellow Commission to Every Nation missionary. Matt and Les are familiar with grief because they have both experienced the loss of their first spouse. Together Matt, Leslie, their five children, two dogs, and one cat are excited to serve the Lord together as one family blended by grief and faith.

Out of Matt’s personal journey through sorrow, Sons of the Shepherd was born with a burden to reach men who are hurting, walking alongside them through seasons of grief, confusion, and rebuilding. This ministry exists to offer hope, biblical truth, and brotherhood to men who are learning how to carry their grief while still leading their families, their faith, and their lives.

Matt’s heart is to share the Gospel with those suffering in the midnight hour of their soul, so that they might find hope and healing. Sons of the Shepherd provides relational evangelism to widowers of all ages through one-on-one relationships, safe and understanding spaces to grieve, Bible studies, online resources, workshops, future retreats, care packages, mentorship, GriefShare classes for those experiencing loss, and community outreach events for hurting men.

Matt and Les’ remarriage also points to the value of upholding the covenant of death do us part while also pointing to a faithful God who still has unwritten chapters for our life. Matt would be honored to partner with others in this unique ministry as he leads people closer to the Good Shepherd.

GRIEF IS NOT A PROBLEM TO SOLVE

Sons of the Shepherd is not a grief recovery program. It is not a checklist or a curriculum you complete and graduate from. We do not believe the goal is to "move on." We believe the goal is to press forward, to carry your grief with you honestly, to let it teach you something true about love and loss and the faithfulness of God, and to refuse to let it be the final word about who you are.

What we provide are relationships and tools, real human presence, honest conversation, and Gospel-rooted resources, because no methodology replaces a brother who shows up and stays. The goal isn't resolution. The goal is companionship on the road.
